CASTLE QUAY BOOKS ANNOUNCES NEWEST TITLE, SEVEN WHOLE DAYS

TORONTO, Ontario — (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) — Castle Quay Books is pleased to announce the release of its newest art and poetry title, Seven Whole Days, by well-known poet Malcolm Guite and Canadian artist Faye Hall.

Malcolm Guite is a well-known and highly respected English poet, singer-Songwriter, Anglican priest, and academic, widely acknowledged for his writings on the intersection of religion and the arts.

His poetry was once characterized as “modern-day metaphysical poems and psalms.” He has written five books of poetry, of which Seven Whole Days is being called one of his finest.

Artist Faye Hall, an award-winning Canadian illustrator, has taken Guite’s poetic sequence in Seven Whole Days and turned it into a splendid visual celebration of God’s good creation. In this sequence of seven poems, Guite reflects on the glory of each of the first six days of creation, concluding with the Sabbath day of rest, and paints a verbal picture of the glory of each, celebrating what each reveals about God. Hall has visually reimagined each line of poetry in a series of 63 beautiful paintings which act as meditations, displaying how God’s glory shines out in all the world. The book is splendidly illustrated and an excellent resource for personal meditation and enrichment.

Authors’ Bios

Malcolm Guite is a beloved English poet/priest renowned for his thoughtful and popular revival of the sonnet form. He currently resides outside Cambridge, where he serves as chaplain of Girton College. He is the author of nine books and a new CD, Songs & Sonnets. Malcolm travels around Great Britain and North America giving lectures, concerts, and poetry readings.

Following a 25-year career in advertising design, Faye Hall was widowed and subsequently made a complete career change to working as an administrative assistant in the office of singer/songwriter Steve Bell. Exposure to his music, travel photography, and the poetry of Malcolm Guite resulted in a reawakening of her love of painting.

Faye’s lifelong faith in God is very evident in her prolific repertoire of realistic and abstract portraits that are charged with energy, passion, and colour. Faye is an award-winning illustrator of the children’s book The Biggest Family in the World (Castle Quay Books, 2016) and has published an art book titled Art Begets Art.
