Christian Horizons Celebrates Jubilee With Open Invitation to Event

Toronto — (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) — You’re invited to celebrate Christian Horizons Jubilee 50th anniversary event held on December 3rd in Oakville

Churches, partners and everyone interested in learning more about Christian Horizons and developmental services is invited to attend the organization’s Jubilee Finale on December 3, 2015. The event will be hosted at The Meeting House, 2700 Bristol Circle. Oakville.

The event begins with a standing reception at 5:30. At 7 p.m. guests will be welcomed into the theatre where we will join with numerous Christian Horizons sites across the province for a life broadcast. This portion of the finale will include remarks from Ontario’s Minister of Community and Social Services and a keynote address from The Honourable David C. Onley, former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, as well as greetings from Joni Eareckson Tada, entertainment and awards presentations.

Background
Christian Horizons, formerly called the Ontario Christian Association for Exceptional Children, was founded on June 10, 1965 by Rev. Jim and Adrienne Reese. The Reeses and other who joined them were responding to a need for Christian care for children with exceptions needs. Their son, Steven Reese, was born with exceptional needs on March 5, 1963.

Christian Horizons began as a camping ministry in 1967. The first home was opened in Waterloo in 1976.

On December 3rd, Christian Horizons locations across Ontario and in Saskatchewan will together to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Celebrations will be held in Ajax, Blind River, Cambridge, Chatham, Cobourg, Huntsville, Oakville, Ottawa, Vaughn, and Moose Jaw, with the live broadcast from Oakville.
