International Dream Expert Speaking in Ontario

Port Perry, Ontario — (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) — “A language enigmatic parable.” This how Kimberley C. Patton, professor of the comparative and historical study of religion at Harvard Divinity School, describes dreams.

Throughout all of time, people of faith have believed that God can use dreams to speak to his people.

New Song Church in Port Perry, Ont., announces a unique series of workshops of interest to the Christian community – but also anyone interested in the power of dreams in our lives.

On Saturday, October 3, renowned author and speaker Rev. Dr. Russell Parker will speak and teach on the topic of “Healing Dreams” at New Song Church, 14460 Simcoe St., Port Perry, Ont.

“This event is an opportunity to learn how dreams work, and to see how dreams can help us in our own personal growth, and to cultivate a deeper awareness of how visions are birthed in our dreams,” says event organizer Rev. Bruce McCallum, associate priest at New Song.

Parker is also a leading expert in the work of reconciliation, notably in Ireland, facilitating discussion at a pivotal, historic gathering including Prince Charles, Ian Paisley and other significant players in that conflict.

“My work in Ireland was through mediators in running listening and reconciliation workshops for a cross section of political, church and sectarian groups representing Sin Fein and the Ulster Defence Association,” explains Parker. He has also worked with reconciliation teams in Rwanda.

Parker will lead a workshop on Monday, Oct. 5 on “Healing Wounded Churches and Leaders,” also held at New Song Church in Port Perry.

“Churches have an unhealthy capacity to wound their members and each other. This workshop will focus on how to heal, and rediscover our mission as hope and renewal,” explains McCallum.

Russ Parker was Director of the Acorn Christian Healing Foundation from 1995-2013. He is the author of books which include: Healing Dreams, Healing Death’s Wounds; Free to Fail, Forgiveness is Healing, The Wild Spirit, Visions in the Night, and Healing Wounded History God. His latest book, published in February 2013 is Rediscovering the Ministry of Blessing.

New Song Church in Port Perry is a congregation of the Anglican Network in Canada.
