WHO’S GOT YOUR SIX?

OTTAWA — (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) — The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers – Canada is hosting a national conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, June 3rd to 5th at Crandall University. One of the dates coincides with the shooting tragedy that took the lives of three RCMP officers and wounded two others on June 4th, 2014 in Moncton.

The theme of the conference is “Who’s Got Your Six?” Six o’clock is what lies behind a police officer when they enter a dangerous situation. It is the potential peril one can’t see. When someone says “I’ve got your six,” it means they’re watching your back. By extension, that person expects you to have their back as well.

As a part of the conference, the public is invited (free of charge) to attend two events held during the conference. The first event will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, located at 77 Hildegard Dr., Moncton. The second event will be held on Sunday, June 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Moncton Wesleyan Church, located at 945 St George Blvd, Moncton.

The keynote speaker for these two events will be Detective Ali Perez (San Diego County Sheriff’s Department). Working in law enforcement for over 20 years in San Diego County, Ali spent the last few years of his career with the Child Abuse Unit, having handled over a hundred cases before his shooting occurred.

In September 2012, Ali and his arrest team were caught up in a serious gun-fight while attempting to arrest a suspected pedophile. Unbeknownst to Ali and his team, the suspect was waiting for them with a high caliber (.308) rifle as they began to kick in the door. Gunfire erupted and the first one hit was Ali, with a round that almost severed his left arm. Knocked to the floor just inside the apartment, bullets began to be exchanged between the subject and Ali at nearly point blank range. More hits on both were taken. Ali was so severely injured and bleeding out so fast that he realized he had only minutes to live, and that there was no way the rest of his team could rescue him in that short amount of time. This is where Ali’s miraculous story of survival, faith, forgiveness, and healing begins.

Come hear an incredible testimony from a man who, in his own words, said “I wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for the grace of God.” Regardless of what you think about miraculous events in this day and age, Ali himself was not one who was given to expect or experience such things, and not one in 10,000 could have survived his ordeal. From fight to finish, what went on at a moment of certain death, to relinquishment, rescue, renal failure and incredible recovery is nothing short of extraordinary and amazing. Ali’s compelling message will change the way you look at life, death, faith and the future.
