Word Alive Press 2022 Award Winner, Stephanie Morales-Beaulieu, Releases First Book: Anything But Ordinary

New Canadian Author Pens Father’s Legacy Offering Compelling Message of Hope for the Hard Times

WATERLOO, ON – March 15, 2023 – Canadian author Stephanie Morales-Beaulieu will never forget the day her dad called to tell her he had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The doctor had given him three to five years to live; This propelled Stephanie into a season she did not think she would survive. After experiencing what a little bit of trust in God’s faithfulness can accomplish, Morales-Beaulieu was compelled to share this message, and her father’s life, legacy and love for Jesus in her first book, Anything But Ordinary (March 15, 2023, Word Alive Press).

Anything But Ordinary tells the story of the divine encounter that changed the trajectory of one man’s life and the faith that profoundly influenced the too-short journey to his death. Jesse Morales was an ordinary Filipino immigrant and mechanic who found the better life he was looking for when he met Jesus. With refreshing vulnerability, this true story shows what living by faith truly looks like. It spotlights the legacy of faith Jesse left, not only for his family, but scores of others when he passed away from ALS.

The diagnosis of Morales-Beaulieu’s father caused her to wrestle deeply with her faith, as intensely difficult blindsides often do. “I’ve seen people lose heart and let go of the promises of God,” said Morales-Beaulieu. “But I’ve experienced the hope that emerges when we hold on to our faith.”

While the illustration is Morales-Beaulieu’s father and his legacy, the message of Anything But Ordinary is centered around hope and that readers are not alone in the hard times they may be feeling and facing. Morales-Beaulieu allows readers to follow her father’s footsteps which led to a season of burnout and depression in the hopes that they may recognize some of these signs in their own lives, or in the lives of others and seek support.

In the wake of the pandemic, Canadians are experiencing what is now being referred to as the shadow pandemic. After years of fear, anxiety, isolation and uncertainty, Canada is experiencing a mental health crisis. Morales-Beaulieu penned Anything But Ordinary to serve as a much-needed reminder that impossible struggles can be the birthplace of inspiring faith. In her book, she aims to show readers that God is always there for them, even when life doesn’t go as planned.

“Hope is in high demand these days. In a noisy world, something that can still capture and hold our attention is a compelling story,” said Morales-Beaulieu. “I wrote Anything But Ordinary so that everyday people who are seeking and struggling would know that there is hope – and an opportunity to walk by faith.”

Anything But Ordinary is available for purchase on March 15, 2023, from anythingbutordinarybook.ca, Word Alive Press, and wherever books are sold.
