“Seeking Creative Ways to Engage Society with Scripture”
TORONTO – (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) – The Canadian Bible Society (CBS) has distributed individualized memorial Bibles to the families of the Humboldt Broncos hockey players who tragically died as well as the survivors in the April 2018 bus crash. Having just returned from Humboldt, Saskatchewan, CBS Development Officer Reg Graves shared about his personal experiences while visiting with those family members.
“This is a significant time for CBS and the people of Humboldt, Saskatchewan. We here at CBS are privileged to have been a part of this important effort to distribute Bibles as we try to comfort, encourage and minister to the families there.” shared Reg.
In addition to ministering to and hearing from the people of Humboldt, there was also an opportunity to share about what the Canadian Bible Society is doing locally and nationally. In Canada, significant indigenous translation partnerships exist for CBS as we are currently involved with the Plains Cree in Saskatchewan and the Inuit people of Nunavut. As well, we also serve the thriving Punjabi Christian community in Western Canada with an emerging Scripture revision project.
“We have had the opportunity now to share our hearts, minister to and encourage the people of Humboldt. We have been inspired by their willingness to be part of this and we can be encouraged to move forward with new CBS engagement initiatives for the people of Canada,” says CBS National Director, Dr. Rupen Das.
