EMPOWERED TO CONNECT CONFERENCE SIMULCAST SEEKS TO EQUIP FAMILIES, CHURCHES, & PROFESSIONALS CARING FOR CHILDREN IMPACTED BY ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE

TORONTO, Ontario — (CANADIAN CHRISTIAN NEWS SERVICE) — Show Hope and The Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, present Empowered to Connect Conference, a two-day simulcast designed to help families, churches, and professional connect with “children from hard places” in order to help them heal through the Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) approach.

“The conference is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others,” says Tara Morin co-host of the Toronto simulcast. “Social workers, teachers, agency professionals, church leaders, counselors, therapists and others will also benefit from this conference.”

“We are hosting this simulcast to share this resource with others who might be dealing with the effects of early trauma with the children in their lives,” says Audrey Le, co-host. “Tara and I are both moms of children who have suffered from early trauma and hope to share our passion and vision with other parents and professionals.”

Show Hope is a movement to care for orphans started by Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman in 2003 after having their own eyes and hearts opened to the global orphan crisis. Since then, Show Hope has worked to holistically approach orphan care.

The Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development strives to help children suffering from the effects of early trauma, abuse and/or neglect. They conduct research to deepen understanding about the complex needs of these children and how to help them overcome social, behavioural, and emotional challenges. Through various outreach initiatives, they train professionals in Trust-Based Relational Intervention, a research-based, holistic model developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross.

The two-day simulcast takes place from 9:30 to 5:30 on both Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th, 2018 at Toronto Grace Alliance Church in Toronto, Ontario and features speakers Daren Jones, Dan and Terry Coley, Sarah Mercado, and Casey Hall.
