GMA Canada Announces 43rd Annual Covenant Awards
Submissions for artist, songwriter and industry awards are now open
WATERLOO, Ont., August 2, 2023 – The 43rd Covenant Awards will occur on November 17 and 18, 2023, at Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church in Kitchener, ON. The live event celebrates excellence and artistry in the Canadian music industry. The two-day event will feature two evenings of awards, showcase performances, a conference portion, after-parties at local restaurants and media engagement opportunities. Award submissions for artists, songwriters and general awards are now open on the Covenant Awards website through August 18, 2023.
The Covenant Awards are awarded to the Canadian gospel music industry by the Gospel Music Association of Canada (GMA Canada), a nonprofit organization that exists to celebrate and encourage excellence in Canadian Christian music. The award ceremonies take place annually in various cities across the nation with the goal of connecting Canadians working in the Christian music industry with one another.
“We are so happy that we can gather in person again. A recent survey conducted by GMA Canada revealed that being together in person is meaningful for our membership – a chance to have face-to-face fellowship as Christ-followers, to pray and worship together, and to celebrate Canadian Christian Music,” said Jaylene Johnson, vice president of GMA Canada.
The Covenant Awards represent a diverse range of artists and industry in various genres, including new categories such as Radio Personality of the Year, Podcaster of the Year, and Canadian Christian Song of the Year. Once all submissions are complete, nominees and recipients will be determined by the votes of GMA Canada members on the Covenant Awards website. The individuals and music nominated must intentionally reflect, communicate, and/or support the Christian faith.
