Hospital Beds Miraculously Arrive Just in Time
Hope and Healing International Are Thankful for the Generosity of Umano Medical
WATERLOO, ON – November 12, 2021 — In light of World Kindness Day, an international holiday observed annually on November 13th, Hope and Healing International celebrates and honours the generosity of Canadian hospital bed manufacturer, Umano Medical.
Through the support of Hope and Healing International, The Luke Commission serves the most isolated and underserved people of Eswatini with free, comprehensive, compassionate health care. During the height of the third wave, 90% of Eswatini’s COVID-19 ICU patients were admitted to The Luke Commission Miracle Campus. As the number of inpatients admitted to the ICU with COVID-19 grew to 3,670, healthcare providers wondered where they would put all the patients God was entrusting them with.
With just days before Luke Commission Miracle Campus reached full capacity, a container of RESC-U beds, a donation in kind from Umano Medical based in L’Islet Quebec, Canada, arrived allowing the team to scale up both a COVID-19 patient recovery area and an outdoor patient receiving area near the inpatient facility.
These kinds of solutions only happen through God’s grace. God asks us to offer our best – to show Jesus’ love to the world, and God fills the gaps with grace.
Echo VanderWal, Executive Director of The Luke Commission shares her gratitude for the timely and much-needed aid, “Thanks so much. Truly this shipment of beds came right on time. We only had to use the floor for 4 days and then the containers arrived. It was such a blessing and the staff were so touched and encouraged to see God’s provision.”
A total of fifteen containers containing 799 RESC-U beds were shipped across the Atlantic in the time period between August 2020 and September 2021. Six containers were sent to Zambia, five to Malawi, three to Eswatini, and one to Cameroon.
God provided a miracle through the generosity of Umano Medical!
