SAVE THE MOTHERS ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW EAST AFRICAN DIRECTOR, DR. MIRIAM MUTABAZI

HAMILTON, Ontario—Save the Mothers (STM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Miriam Mutabazi to the position of East African Director for Save the Mothers in Uganda. Her appointment will begin part time on February 1, 2017 and transition into full time as of April 15, 2017 to coincide with Dr. Jean Chamberlain Froese’s transition back to Canada.

Dr. Chamberlain Froese will be in Uganda until the middle of April 2017, when she returns fulltime to Canada, where she will remain as executive director for Save the Mothers until the end of the year.

Dr. Mutabazi has a cumulative 17 years’ experience in the field of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, and Reproductive Health. She has worked for several large international organizations including Management Sciences for Health (MSH) for six years, UNFPA for 11 years and several years under the Government of Uganda at district and regional referral hospitals. Most recently, she has been the project coordinator for the upcoming medical school at Uganda Christian University.

Dr. Miriam Mutabazi excels in analyzing Reproductive Health, Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Adolescent issues as well as commodity security and supply chain management.

The Save the Mothers boards and STM management team welcome Dr. Mutabazi to this new and exciting role.
