The Executive Director of the Canadian Bible Society (CBS), Rev. Dr. Rupen Das, was recently chosen to serve in three key positions with the United Bible Society (UBS).
Dr. Das was elected to serve on the UBS Global Council and further, at its November meeting, was elected to serve on the Executive Committee. In addition he was appointed as the Chair of the Global Church Relations Committee of the United Bible Societies.
“This is an honour for CBS and is an acknowledgement of the strength of the vision for the work of CBS in Canada and around the world.” says Dr. Das. “I look forward to working with the Global Council to further the mission and implement the global priorities set by the World Assembly of the UBS Fellowship that will make a difference in the lives of many people around the world. The Bible Societies are inter-confessional and relationships with churches across the world is key in ensuring that everyone, everywhere has access to the Scriptures”
The Canadian Bible Society (CBS) is part of a global movement of 148 national Bible Societies working in 220 countries and territories around the world. The United Bible Society (UBS) is the international body that brings each of the national Bible Societies into a common fellowship. It is through this network that CBS works to support global strategy implementing its vision to eliminate Bible poverty and ensure all have the ability to hear God speak in their lives through the written Word in the language that they understand.
