Castle Quay Books is pleased to announce the release of the winner of the 2018 Word Guild/Castle Quay Books Best New Manuscript award by award-winning author Kevin John White entitled
Dancing on a Razor: Tales of Mercy from the lips of a Prodigal
The author, Kevin White, puts it best when he says “—this is not a typical ‘alcoholic gets saved’ kind of book. The unusual events surrounding my birth—the plan for my life God revealed to my father before I was born—the many incredible miracles God did over and over, the great mercy and kindness he used in dealing with me, and the outrageous protection he afforded me are by themselves more than just unusual. But when you combine all this with the demonic onslaughts, the witchcraft, the powerful personal revelations of Christ, and the great power with which the Holy Spirit kept me, Dancing on a Razor is an intriguing and truly rare story—one that will appeal to all generations of both the saved and unsaved alike.”
Dancing on a Razor chronicles, through a series of dynamic short personal stories, the life and God’s redemption of Kevin John White, son of internationally known author and lecturer Dr. John White. Despite his conversion experience at age 14, Kevin becomes a hopeless alcoholic, an addict, and a wandering minstrel—riding freight trains and hitchhiking coast to coast, singing his own music for 45 years. But while he is living this derelict life, Kevin experiences the relentless pursuit and personal revelation of God’s love to him. Despite Kevin’s fear and rebelliousness against God, God continues to perform astonishing miracles throughout Kevin’s lifetime to draw him back to Himself. This book is honest, highly humorous, and loaded with amazing stories. Thousands of prayers went up for Kevin, and here is proof that “God never gives up!”
Dancing on a Razor was the winner of the “Word Guild Best New Manuscript Award” for 2018.
What People Are Saying About This Book
“Surviving a life that’s found you endlessly walking the tightrope of survival is simply remarkable. Realizing God’s grace and goodness in it is profound. And accounting for it all in written word to challenge, encourage, and inspire others is a truly meaningful labour of love. With raw transparency, Kevin White walks readers through the dark worlds he’s known, ultimately to find the most radiant of lights awaiting at the end of each one.”
—Tim Huff, author, speaker, social-justice worker
“I was as moved by Kevin John White’s devastating and glorious story as I was his manner of telling it; sometimes elegant and wise, at other times believably raw and unvarnished. Always leaning into meaning and grace, Dancing on a Razor is humbling and beautiful.”
—Steve Bell – singer-songwriter, author
“Kevin reveals how he was in the battle zone between Heaven and Hell and what it is really like to enter into the pit of hopelessness. Yet God never forgets about him and Dancing on a Razor becomes a graphic description of the power of God’s redemption in our lives and that God really is a heart-reader more than a lip-reader. He really does know what is going on in our lives all the time!”
—Rev. Dr. Alistair P. Petrie- author and executive director –Partnership Ministries.
“Kevin’s father, Dr. John White, once told me that God revealed to him before Kevin was born, that Kevin would be a difficult son who would live the “razor’s edge” life of addiction, which Kevin describes in this book. Incredible as these stories are, I know they are true, because I have lived with Kevin during his struggles.”
—Helmut Boehm, co-founder of Wagner Hills Ministries, Langley, BC
