From the Creators of WONDER Comes WHITE BIRD: an Inspirational Tale of Bravery and Kindness

Genre: Drama, Family, Coming-of-age | Rating: PG | Runtime: 120 minutes

In theatres nationwide from Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company through Cineplex Pictures on October 4, 2024

WATERLOO, Ont., October 1, 2024—From the studio behind UNSUNG HERO, JESUS REVOLUTION, ORDINARY ANGELS, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, and AMERICAN UNDERDOG comes WHITE BIRD, a powerful, intergenerational story urging viewers to be brave and choose kind. The film will be released on October 4, 2024, by Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate and distributed by Cineplex Pictures.

From the best-selling author of “Wonder”, the book that sparked a movement to “choose kind,” comes the inspirational next chapter.

In WHITE BIRD, we follow Julian (Bryce Gheisar), who has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman. To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother (Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren) finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage — during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother (Gillian Anderson) risks everything to keep her safe.

“We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change and bring hope to the world—and WHITE BIRD is one such story,” said Kevin Downes, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Kingdom Story Company. “WHITE BIRD is a story about compassion and bravery. It’s a story about taking risks and standing up for people who don’t have a voice. It’s a movie that’s right for the time,” said Andy Erwin, Chief Creative Officer and co-founder of Kingdom Story Company.

From director Marc Forster (Finding Neverland and Christopher Robin), screenwriter Mark Bomback, and based on R.J. Palacio’s book, “White Bird,” like “Wonder” before it, is an uplifting movie about how one act of bravery and kindness can live on forever.

WHITE BIRD also stars Ariella Glaser and Orlando Schwerdt. It was produced by Todd Lieberman, p.g.a., David Hoberman, p.g.a., R.J. Palacio. Executive Producers are Jeff Skoll, Robert Kessel, Kevin Downes, Jon Erwin, Andrew Erwin, Renée Wolfe, Alexander Young, Mark Bomback, Kevan Van Thompson, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio.
