Sleeping in Cars and Churches When Home isn’t Safe Anymore
A short story written by a staff member of a partner organization of Open Doors in Syria
Where did you sleep last night? That would be a weird question to my colleagues at the start of a new day. Based on what we hear of the staff of our partner organization in Syria, thousands of persons slept in church buildings last night in Syria. Many houses and apartments aren’t safe anymore to live in or the people don’t feel comfortable to sleep there because of all the aftershocks of the earthquake that hit Syria.
Open Doors is supporting our partner organization to offer shelter to people in churches. We provided people with food, blankets and mattresses in some places. We are still assessing the needs of the churches and the Christian communities to decide on possible next steps. Learn more about how you can help.
Ask your Member of Parliament to join Open Doors for a special presentation of the 2023 World Watch List
The special presentation of the World Watch List is our opportunity to inform the Canadian government about the current realities for more than 360 million Christians worldwide and engage them in championing policies that promote freedom of religion and protect persecuted believers.
A New Well Provides Water for Refugees
I want to tell you some very good news. We have started a ministry on the border between our (undisclosed) country in Central Asia and Afghanistan. This is a very difficult and closed area for the Gospel. But by the grace of the Lord, we can serve in this region by providing clean drinking water.
