PROMISE KEEPERS CANADA ANNOUNCES NEW MINISTRY NAME FOR GLOBAL REACH
Burlington, Ont., September 12, 2023 – Established in 1995 as a Canadian conference-based ministry for men, Promise Keepers Canada has officially changed its name to Impactus. After many years of successful and well-attended conferences, the ministry witnessed a significant change in conference attendance, which began the conversation around the strategic direction. This, combined with extensive research led by industry experts, revealed that to effectively reach the next generation of men, a new ministry name and direction were necessary. This announcement marks the end of a strategic, three-year transition from Promise Keepers Canada to Impactus.
The ministry first introduced the name Impactus in 2020 alongside a new website with the desire to become a global, digital ministry, reaching the next generation of men. “Our transitional plan to become Impactus was prayerful, intentional, and out of respect for the incredible legacy of the ministry. This time of transition also prepared us strategically for a world of new ministry opportunities,” said Dean Brenton, president of Impactus.
Impactus is a Latin word that means to “press closely into something.” This word was chosen because the organization believes that when men press closely into their walk with Jesus and allow Him to press into their lives, the godly impact on marriages, families, workplaces, and communities is undeniable.
Knowing that generations of men worldwide primarily learn and interact online, the ministry has continued to invest in developing high-quality digital resources for men and men’s ministry leaders over the past three years. As a result, Impactus’ website and social media platforms have been reaching hundreds of thousands of men. While Impactus is shifting to becoming a digital-first ministry and partnering with leaders worldwide, the ministry will continue hosting key, in-person conferences and events nationwide and minister to Canadian men.
“While our name is changing, our ministry vision remains the same: to see every man becoming, growing, and living as a disciple of Christ,” said Brenton. “However, we acknowledge that to reach every man, our ministry methods must adapt from their humble beginnings in 1995 to meet the realities and needs of our rapidly changing world. Impactus allows us to minister to men globally and intergenerationally under a name that resonates with a new generation of men.”
