CASTLE QUAY BOOKS CANADA ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF THE WINNER OF THE 2019 WORD GUILD BEST NEW MANUSCRIPT AWARD – BY AUTHOR BOSCO H. C. POON

This is the true story of Bosco H. C. Poon, a.k.a. B.O.Z (Born Of Zion), a Chinese-Canadian who was an aspiring recording artist but ended up in a Canadian federal prison. In his most hopeless moment, Jesus appeared before him, and his life was completely changed.

Castle Quay Books is pleased to announce the release of the winner of the 2019 Word Guild/Castle Quay Books Best New Manuscript award by author Bosco H. C. Poon, entitled

Risen from Prison: Beyond My Wildest Imagination

Dr. Daniel T. Holmes, (MD, Vancouver, BC) says it best: “The beauty of Bosco Poon’s story is not only the radical transformation in his character but also the fact that there is a very public media and legal record testifying that he was once a gang member and criminal but is now a pastor and man of God. I would encourage the skeptic to read the 2006 newspaper articles detailing the crime that landed him in jail and compare the story of the man who ‘once was’ to the man who ‘is now’: the one born of Zion’s hope.”

Chinese-Canadian pastor Bosco H. C. Poon, stage name B.O.Z, was an aspiring Canadian recording artist, but through a series of unfortunate associations and choices, he ended up involved in criminal activity, eventually becoming an accomplice to the kidnapping of a Vancouver college student in April 2004. He was arrested and entered a lengthy trial, where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for kidnapping, extortion, and conspiracy. His case was featured prominently in the Canadian press.

Risen from Prison is B.O.Z’s autobiography and chronicles his early life as an immigrant to Canada; the challenges he faced in his journey from musical success to gang involvement, his arrest, trial, and incarceration; his spiritual redemption; and the many miracles that occurred after meeting Jesus and his decision to follow Him.

This story moves from the top of the world to the very pits of prison life and then back out by the hand of God. B.O.Z calls everything that happened in his life “beyond his wildest imagination.” His story recounts his fascinating journey with openness and vulnerability in the hope that others who have separated from God may find their way to Him also.

The public are invited to a book launch sponsored by More Than 12 Church to be held in the Granville Island vicinity on January 12th, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. at HY Tea Lounge, 205-1540 W 2nd Ave, Vancouver. For more information call 778-708-4772.

Risen from Prison was the winner of the “Word Guild Best New Manuscript Award” for 2019.

What People Are Saying About This Book

“Boz’s story is gripping. What starts out tragically ends with layers of beautiful redemption. His life as told in this book is a powerful reminder of what God can do with any of us who surrender our will and choose to serve and live God’s way wherever we are.”
Brian Doerksen, Christian singer-songwriter

“This narrative is gripping, awe-inspiring, and filled with unexpected plot twists. The grace of God is sufficient to forgive and cleanse all human transgression. Boz’s life is a vivid testimony of spiritual, emotional, and physical transformation. This is a must read!”
Rev. Kenneth A. Russell, district superintendent, Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada–BC/Yukon

“I have known this young man for the last few years, and I am witness to his call into ministry and how he embraces his new life. God has taken the talents and gifts He gave Boz, who had planned to rise to the top of the Asian world of entertainment. His choices changed that plan, and God has redeemed the person of Bosco Poon, placing him in the front lines in His plan to reach the world. This book is a beautiful picture of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and redemption. Everyone who takes time to read the transforming love of God in this young man’s life will be blessed, encouraged, and reminded of the love of God for each of us.”
Jim Caruso, DMin, author of Spiritual Sinkholes

“Boz’s story is our story. We have all been imprisoned. Pride, unforgiveness, ignorance, prejudice, and a hard heart have led us to foolish decisions and broken relationships. We’ve been separated from God. As Boz writes of the prison inmates, ‘All of our hearts had the same deep yearning for something that could set our souls free. We all wanted forgiveness and a second chance.’ In these pages, Boz finds true freedom through the only one who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As you read this story, may you allow your heart to be set free and to find its home in Christ.”
Marina H. Hofman, PhD, writer, Old Testament scholar
