CHRISTIAN HORIZONS ANNOUNCES DEATH OF FOUNDER

Christian Horizons sadly announced today that its founder, Rev. James (Jim) Reese died peacefully on July 5, 2019 at age 85. His vision and dedicated work towards a ministry for people with disabilities has changed the lives of people across Canada and around the world.

Rev. Reese graduated from Bryan College (TN) and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (MI) and pastored 4 years at Moline Baptist Church in Michigan. Moving to Canada in 1961, he served with Ken Campbell for 17 years with the Campbell-Reese Evangelistic Association, conducting about 500 evangelistic missions across North America and overseas. In 1978 he became a pastor at Benton Street Baptist Church in Kitchener for 25 years. From 2003 to 2015 he served 11 interim pastorates across southern Ontario.

In 1965 with the birth of their son Steven, who was born with developmental disabilities, Jim and Adrienne Reese realized that there was a need for a Christian organization to provide a full spectrum of services for people with developmental disabilities in Ontario. As a result, they enlisted the help of other families to create a Christian ministry to serve people with disabilities and Christian Horizons was launched.

What began as a summer camp ministry for children with developmental disabilities, has grown to an organization that serves nearly 3,000 people who experience disabilities in Canada and in developing countries around the world through Christian Horizons Global.
